ABSTRACT
Modern audiences expect western dramatic narratives to deliver a generalized, but clear story structure, while this is nothing new; the old, one-structure-fits-all-genres model is obsolete. Contemporary audiences expect tales to rest upon a solid genre based narrative structure if they are to be fully immersed, engaged and empathize with the content. Through the exploration of this phenomenon in Science Fiction films (a genre with the most blatant forms of exposition) a trans-disciplinary truth of universal engagement comes to light; visual story teaching.
